Smug young otherwise law abiding  mothers probably don't realize that many of them are violating the law by having inappropriate child seats in their car, OR, are not doing it properly if they have the right one.  It's too complicated. Cops, and judges and the general populace aren't aware of it.  We just like to make potential criminals out of everyone for the money in case we need to issue a million more tickets.  My poor parents just piled me and every child   who needed a ride.  They should still be serving sentences for child endangerment.  The important thing is that manufacturers are doing well.

Going to college? Major in lobbying.  It's a good time to be a lobbyist in America.  Huge benefits.

I get a little infuriated with Trump when he's right. I too think she's a bimbo.  But that doesn't qualify Trump nor me for President.

I wonder if young people realize that if they come out to vote THEY could favorably decide their own future.  I think Republicans understand this an are worried.

Top Italian Court Rules 100 Euros Is Not High Enough To Constitute A Bribe

by jonathanturley
Carabiniere_a_Bologna_(April_2006)UnknownAn Italian court this month showed just how hard it is to bribe an Italian police officer. The highest Italian court acquitted a defendant of corruption charges because it found that the man offered the police officer only 100 euros during a drunk-driving traffic stop. That, the court concluded, was not nearly enough to bribe a police officer. While the court did not share the going market rate, it appears to be over 100 euros, which most of us would not viewed as a trivial sum.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issues statement about Planned Parenthood

Kind of hard to believe:

For Immediate Release
Jan 26, 2016

[Austin Texas] Under the encouragement of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson (Republican) convened a grand jury to investigate Planned Parenthood. Yesterday the grand jury cleaned Planned Parenthood of any wrong doing but issued indictments to David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt on charges of tampering with a governmental record with a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison. These two individuals were responsible for the videos against Planned Parenthood.

Governor Greg Abbott issued the following statement:

Today a grand jury convened by a Republican District Attorney, with my full encouragement, cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrong doing. As the former Attorney General I have always respected a Grand Jury's decisions except for their indictments of former Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Ken Paxton. These are nothing more than political witch hunts.

Today's decision by a Republican District Attorney's Grand Jury must also be respected although it will not influence the State's investigation of Planned Parenthood unless Ken Paxton is found guilty of security fraud and can no longer serve. Until then the investigation will proceed.

The indictment by the grand jury made one thing very clear : Don't let a women do job that is required by a man. As Governor I have taken extreme steps to limit a woman's right to affordable healthcare, life saving cancer screenings, and overall women's wellness. I've made sure women are paid less and know their place in society. Obviously Devon Anderson was not aware of this.
As Governor it is my job to continue to work against women, minorities, Muslims, Obama,  Democrats, the poor, and anyone that isn't like me. Even with egg on my face.

Turkey Seeks Life Imprisonment For Two Journalists Who Reported On Gun Smuggling By Government To Syria

by jonathanturley
220px-Recep_Tayyip_ErdoganWe have followed the rapid decline of civil liberties under the authoritarian rule Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the past few years as well as his empowering of Islamic parties in the once secular state. This trend was evident recently with the rounding up of dozens of professors for simply signing a petition denouncing military operations against Kurds in the south-east of the country. Now, his government has announced that it will seek life sentences for two journalists who reported on the gun smuggling operations of Turkey to Syria. Erdoğan has been gradually arresting or threatening the dwindling number of independent journalists in Turkey and this prosecution may succeed in forcing the remaining reporters into silence or living in exile.

Prosecutor's 'Hannibal Lecter' comparison was unauthorized and inappropriate, DA says

A prosecutor who called a California jail escapee “Hannibal Lecter” wasn’t speaking for the District Attorney’s office, the DA said in a statement on Tuesday.
Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said the prosecutor’s recent statements were “inappropriate, uninformed and rash,” report theOrange County Register and the Associated Press.
The “Hannibal Lecter” statement was made by Senior Deputy District Attorney Heather Brown, who told the Orange County Register on Monday that jail officials were too lax in handling Hossein Nayeri, one of three escaped inmates.
“My first reaction was: Oh, my God, they let Hannibal Lecter out,” Brown told the publication. “He is sophisticated, incredibly violent and cunning.”
Nayeri is accused with two other people of kidnapping the owner of a marijuana dispensary. Brown alleged that Nayeri tortured the victim with a blow torch and ordered his penis cut off. Nayeri’s trial was scheduled for Feb. 23.
